Medical School Loans

The federal government has increased the annual Unsubsidized Stafford Loan borrowing limits for health profession students enrolled in Medical programs. That doesn't include the cost of books, equipment, housing, utilities, food, insurance, or transportation. The expenses add up quickly. But it's not necessary to sacrifice limbs for your education.

Keep your head and you can manage it all by planning your debt carefully.

Since the medical student of today could be the well-paid physician of tomorrow, medical schools expect each student to be responsible for the cost of her education.

Unless you have a million-dollar trust fund—or parents who are willing to fork over the exorbitant costs of medical school—you'll have to rely on outside sources of financial aid to pay the bills.
